Prevention and Care

Prevention is better

Place the doormat as a dirt trap in front of the entrance door. This prevents dirt from outside from getting onto your carpet. Also, keep in mind that a dark carpet is less dirt- and stain-sensitive than light carpets.

Regular vacuuming

To maintain the beauty and radiance of your carpet for a long time, we recommend vacuuming your carpet at least once a week thoroughly. We recommend a vacuum cleaner with rotating brushes. These vacuum cleaners are somewhat more expensive, but much more effective. Only in this way can deep-seated dirt be removed, and the carpet pile recovers faster. Light soiling and stains are best removed with a carpet cleaning agent. Read the instructions carefully and treat the stains as quickly as possible.

Cleaning

With regular vacuuming of the carpet and timely stain removal, a first thorough cleaning is only necessary after about a year – this also applies to light carpets. If the carpet looks dirty, you can either clean it yourself or have it cleaned by a professional service. When cleaning it yourself, please always use quality cleaning products and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Shampoo

The use of a neutral shampoo is absolutely necessary. Therefore, do not use alkaline or ammonia-containing shampoo. Household cleaners are also strongly discouraged. Brand cleaning agents should be checked for how much residual shampoo remains on the carpet. To do this, put some cleaner in a saucer, let it sit overnight, pour it off, and let it dry. If sticky residual shampoo remains on the bottom of the saucer, it is advisable not to use it, as household dirt could otherwise settle particularly quickly in the carpet fibers.

Absorption powder

In retail, both solvent and cleaning agent saturated powders are available. Please follow the manufacturer's instructions. After vacuuming, distribute the powder in the specified amount on the carpet and brush it into the pile. Then remove it again with the vacuum cleaner. This protects the carpet pile, and the room can be used again more quickly, as there is no drying time required.

Foam shampoo in spray cans

For the interim cleaning of small areas, the use of foam shampoos in spray cans is recommended. Check the shampoo beforehand for sticky residues that can attract dirt. Generally spray the foam sparingly onto the carpet and work it into the pile with a damp sponge or brush. Allow the carpet to dry and then vacuum it. Please always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Spray injection and extraction

This method – often mistakenly referred to as "steam cleaning" – involves injecting hot water and a cleaning solution into the carpet pile under pressure. This loosens dirt particles from the fibers, which can then be extracted along with the water by a powerful wet vacuum. This method is particularly effective for heavily soiled carpets with deep-seated dirt. However, the surface cleaning is not as thorough as with other methods. It is also well-suited for removing cleaning agents that have settled in the pile after multiple wet shampooing sessions. By combining both methods, even heavily soiled and worn carpets can be refreshed. The appropriate cleaning equipment can be rented; however, it is advisable to have the cleaning done by a professional service to protect the carpet pile and backing and to avoid over-wetting.

Professional Cleaning

A professional cleaning is excellent for carpets and carpet tiles, as all dirt can be effectively removed.

First Aid for Stains

1. React quickly
Do not let stains dry, but remove them immediately with a clean kitchen towel. Remove the solid elements with a spoon.

2. Bleach Resistant
Please note that stubborn stains on carpet made of 100% polypropylene can be cleaned with diluted bleach. We recommend a mixture of 50% bleach and 50% water.

3. Treat thoroughly
Treat the stain with a clean kitchen towel from the outside in to avoid spreading the stain. For most stains, a carpet care product can be used. Use the right amount of the product, not too much, not too little. Make sure to rinse the carpet to remove the care product and dirt. Wait until the area is completely dry before walking on it again.

A. Water
